Jun 17, 07:01 AM: Father's Day

I don’t mention it much but I have a really great dad. Yeah he’s kind of a jerk and never gets off my case but that’s his job, about the worse thing that could happen to you (for sons at least) is having a dad that isn’t giving you a hard time. The older I get the more I realize that my dad has pretty much always been right and I should have listened. It used to really piss me off but I’m getting used to it.

My dad has worked on race cars, he was in the army, and he was a volunteer fireman. He was also the first person in his family to graduate from college and he did it after he was married with 2 kids and a job.

One of my earliest memories of my dad must be from when I was about 5. I had spent the day with my grandparents and then my parents picked me up and brought me home. When I was little I had a stuffed toy puppy that I slept with and apparently carried everywhere with me, somehow I managed to leave the puppy at my grandparents that day. Well I couldn’t or wouldn’t go to sleep without out my puppy so my dad drove all the way back to my grandparents that night and got it for me. My grandparent only lived 6 or 7 miles away so it might not seem like a big deal to but to a 5 year old it was down right heroic! And I probably never even thanked him.

Thanks Dad, Happy Father’s Day!
