May 27, 01:00 AM: Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (review)

I really enjoyed P3! I would say that it is almost on par with the original. The movie is full of humor and action, which has moved toward the adult end of the spectrum, and the silliness that I disliked in P2 is gone. The story had a Baron Munchausen feel to it, not quite as fantastic but getting there.

I only have two real criticisms. The story itself seams to be a little understated. As we sat discussing the flick afterwards I noticed that there was a lot of “why was…” being asked or explained. Every character had his own agenda but if you weren’t paying close attention you might not realize it. The other thing is they still didn’t get the Captain Jack “...and then they made me their chief,” magic from the first movie. I’m not sure why, maybe it’s just the kind of thing that can be reproduced?

Rating: I give it 4 out of 5, if your headed to the theater anyway I’d defiantly see this one. I don’t think it will loose anything on the small screen so if you can wait do that but I would defiantly see it one way or another.

BTW – Thanks to Jason & Yaz for the invite, I would have probably waited for the DVD otherwise.

  1. I liked it a lot. There was lots of action and I was paying attention so I got most of the goings on with each person. I was hoping for something more with the ending and don’t think there is a whole lot to make a 4th movie with, at least not anything worth to doesn’t come off forced.
