Jun 13, 07:02 AM: sci-fi movie test
Have you ever had someone say to you “I saw that movie, it was good” then watch the movie only to find that it sucked? The problem is that what is good to one person is not necessarily good to the next person or as I like to say “most people are idiots.” What you need is a short list of qualifying question to determine if that person’s opinion is any good.
First of all we need to narrow the field. Movies in general is just too wide a topic, someone made be a good judge of drama or sports movies but know nothing about comic book adaptations or talking dogs. We are going to focus on sci-fi movies for our first set of questions. Next we need to clarify that we are gauging quality of movies not super geekdom. It was already suggested ask “have you ever stood in line to see a movie at midnight opening day?” This would determine your devotion as a fan but not necessarily that you have any taste.
The only good sci-fi question I have come up with so far is…
Q: How old where you when you saw the original Star Wars for the first time?
A: If the person learned to drive before they saw Star Wars you can disregard their opinion on sci-fi movies from here on out. Exception: if they learned to drive prior to 1977 in which case they would have needed to see the movie in the theater.
Ok so now we just need 4 more questions. The floor is now open for discussion.
